Learning for Life Partnership
The Learning for Life Partnership Board takes a strategic overview of informal learning opportunities in Norfolk. It is currently seeking a nomination from the voluntary and community sector to join the Board. If your organisation is interested and meets the following criteria, or you would like to propose somebody else (providing they would be willing to take up this role) please contact us – norfolkunites@communityconnections.org.uk.
Organisations need to be:
• involved in delivering or with in-depth knowledge of informal learning
• a voluntary or community organisation delivering services in Norfolk
• able to offer a county wide remit (if possible)
• committed to giving a general perspective and not just the views of their own organisation
• prepared to attend the Partnership Board on a regular basis
• prepared to respond to emails, reports and contribute to tasks outside of the partnership Board meetings
The Board's plans include identifying the demand for learning and further development of the virtual forum.
IAG level 3 bursaries
Dear All
As part of the next phase of the Regional Voluntary Sector Capacity Building Project, funds are being made available to assist a small number of individuals working in the Voluntary and Community Sector providing advice and guidance, to achieve the NVQ Advice and Guidance L3 qualification.
It has been recognised that changes in the way in which IAG is delivered, and the ways in which VCS organisations are expected to contract for the delivery of these services, mean that many small organisations may find that they have a shortfall in qualified IAG practitioners at the required level. In order to address this, the Learning and Skills Council Eastern Region, through the Working Together Capacity Building Project, is supporting access to this qualification for a limited period.
6 bursaries of £500 are being made available across the Eastern Region to contribute towards the cost of the qualification. VCS IAG practitioners wishing to undertake the qualification, who meet the eligibility criteria (attached,) are requested to complete an application form and return it to COVER as soon as possible. Bursaries will be awarded to eligible applicants on a first come, first served basis.
Successful applicants to the bursary fund will be responsible for sourcing a provider (assessment centre) and paying for the qualification at a local level. They will then need to submit evidence of payment e.g. receipt or invoice, and details of the provider, together with an invoice from their employing organisation for £500 (including VAT if applicable) to COVER who will then make payment of the bursary. Please note that no payments will be made direct to individuals.
It is a requirement of the funding that the course is started, and one unit completed, before December 2008 with the full qualification completed within an 18 month period.
The NVQ L3 qualification is primarily aimed at the following:
* IAG Officers
* Learner Support Officers
* Any organisations planning to undergo Matrix accreditation
It may be possible to receive further funding towards the cost of this qualification through Train to Gain if you meet the eligibility criteria for that programme. In order to find out whether you could be entitled to receive additional funding please contact Train to Gain on 0800 015 55 45.
If you have any questions relating to this offer of support please contact me, Nikki Bennett, Regional VCS Skills Strategy Manager on 07796001361.
