Train to Gain ‘belt tightening’
Due to over subscription of Train to Gain beneficiaries, there is restrictions are coming into place for new providers and learners until April 2010, when the Skills Funding Agency is due to come on line and replace the LSC in running Train to Gain. There is no block on new providers or learners signing up but please be aware that eligibility may be much tighter for the foreseeable future which may result in fewer opportunities for providers or potential learners.
Women's Resource Centre
Please see attached letter explaining a tender made to the Ministry of Justice for a One Stop Shop Resource Centre for Women in Norfolk - specifically targetting women offenders and marginalised women who may be affected by offending behaviour. It is a multi agency and cross sector partnership and a ‘lead responsive’ bid led by Stonham Home Group Ltd. At this stage the partnership is keen to gain support from VCS providers who may be able to provide employment and training support opportunities and/or provide venues and outreach support services to the target group. The letter of support provides more information and contact details if anyone should wish to know more at this stage.

DCSF
Children’s Minister Delyth Morgan recently launched a new strategy outlining how the Government will work with the third sector to improve the life chances of children, young people and their families. Third sector organisations are facing the double pressure of increased demands for their services and reduced income. Children, young people and families are also experiencing additional challenges. So it is increasingly important that DCSF and its third sector partners work even more closely together. See here for details of this new strategy.
